Pain Management

More than 40% of all adults in the United States suffer from ongoing conditions like back pain and headaches. Our philosophy of whole-body treatment is ideally-suited to these conditions. Examining you, while analyzing your diet, nutrient levels, and environment, will provide us with far more opportunities for a solution than you would find in a traditional primary care practice. In additional to the standard exams, blood tests and scans, we offer therapies that optimize your nutrients, infuse vitamins and minerals directly into your body, pull metals and toxins from your body, improve your circulation and enhance your immune system.

Trigger Point Therapy

Research has shown this treatment to greatly alleviate pain, reduce inflammation and improve circulation to muscles. This allows the cells of the body to expel excess lactic acid and other toxins, leading to a much faster healing time as well as decreased pain. The treatment consists of small injections of a special combination of vitamins and pain-relievers.

Joint Injections/Prolozone

Prolozone® is the trademarked name of a homeopathic/oxygen-ozone injection technique developed and pioneered by Dr. Frank Shallenberger. It is excellent for all forms of musculo-skeletal and joint pain, including chronic neck and back pain, rotator cuff injuries, degenerative and arthritic hips and knees, degenerated discs, and shoulder and elbow pain. In using this treatment, 75% of chronic pain sufferers will become pain free.

Prolozone is a connective tissue injection therapy of collagen producing substances and ozone gas which can reconstruct damaged or weakened connective tissue in and around joints. These substances are injected into the damaged connective tissue to rebuild the damaged areas. By repairing the connective tissue this is all that is needed to permanently reverse chronic pain.

Ligaments are the structural “rubber bands” that hold bones to bones in joints – acting like the body’s shock absorbers. Ligaments can become weak or injured and may not heal back to their original strength or endurance. They may not tighten to their original length once injured. For athletes or those just getting older, there is some gradual and natural degeneration of the moving parts of the body due to ongoing recurrent mechanical stress, and failure of tissues to repair. When this occurs the ligaments, tendons, and cartilage become dehydrated and weaker. The result is laxity as well as more abnormal mechanical stress and shearing forces on the joint. Abnormal shearing forces and torsion cause more joint dysfunction. This leads to a progressive separation of the ligaments from the superficial covering on the bone called the periosteum. This pulling on the periosteum creates a space, which the body fills in with new bone. These new parts of bone are called osteophytes. They are the premier signs of degenerative arthritis in & around the joint. Osteophytes and joint laxity result in a reduced range of motion, which causes strain on surrounding muscles which then become either over or under worked leading to more dysfunction & pain.

Prolozone treatments repair and tighten the lax structures along with partially torn connective tissue and ligaments. This treatment will halt the chronic pain/inflammation cycle. It allows for better circulation and increased blood flow, carrying nutrition and hydration of the damaged tissues. Overall, Prolozone creates a healing environment to develop within the joint, resulting in an increased range of motion and decreased pain.

Spinal Adjustments

A hand-held instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument is used to deliver a gentle impulse force to the spine with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted spinal vertebra or joint.

PEMF Therapy

This therapy is known to increase energy levels in all cells of the body. The blood reflects these changes in just minutes!  Red blood cells are energized, and white blood cells increase in size and mobility, actively catching bacteria and other pathogens.

For intensive healing of neck and back pain and tissue injury, PEMF uses electrical energy to direct a series of magnetic pulses through injured tissue, inducing a tiny electrical signal that stimulates cellular repair. PEMF therapy has been successful in treating many inflammatory diseases as well such as arthritis or psoriasis. It is also a reparative technique commonly used in the field of orthopedics for the treatment of non-union fractures, as well as disc herniations, failed fusions, and for speeding post-surgical healing times.

Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections

Platelet activation plays a key role in the process of wound and soft tissue healing. The use of platelet rich plasma (PRP), a portion of the patient’s own blood having a platelet concentration above baseline, to promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints, can be applied to various musculoskeletal problems. PRP is also thought to have some natural stem cell activity, and may be one of the contributors to tissue regeneration.

Electrical Stimulation

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is a therapy that uses low-voltage electrical current for pain relief.

Ultrasound

There are two main types of ultrasound therapy: thermal and mechanical. Both use sound waves generated by a transducer head to penetrate soft tissues. Thermal ultrasound therapy uses a more continuous transmission of sound waves, causing microscopic vibrations in the deep tissue molecules, increasing heat and friction. The warming encourages healing in the soft tissues by increasing the metabolism at the level of the tissue cells. Mechanical ultrasound therapy uses pulses of sound waves to penetrate tissues. While this still has a minor warming effect on the tissues, it also causes expansion and contraction in the tiny gas bubbles of the soft tissues. This helps to decrease the inflammatory response, reducing tissue swelling and thus decreasing pain.
