Coronavirus Updates: Clinic News & Immune Support Tips

Here’s an update on how Sage Integrative Medicine Clinic is continuing to help during this time of Coronavirus.

First and foremost, we are here for you. We are currently operating on our normal schedule, which can be found here ( We are a primary care clinic, and can help you with the conditions which require immediate attention, but not urgent care or hospitalization, such as urinary tract infections, migraines, joint pain, and immune support, etc.

If you are symptomatic with cold or flu-like symptoms, please call the clinic first before arriving to your appointment so we can assess the best medical course of action. Options may include:

  • Change to a telemedicine appointment
  • Rescheduling to a time on our schedule when there are no other patients in the clinic
  • Possible redirection to urgent care

We do have limited tests available at the clinic for the COVID-19 virus. These tests will only be used for symptomatic patients after assessment.

Protecting People and Our Community:

Guided by the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and industry best practices, we are continuing to deploy a comprehensive plan to keep our employees, patients and community safe.

Here are a few ways that we are maintaining our clinic space to decrease transmission risks:

  • Clinicians are using protective gear during visits and when collecting specimens
  • Frequent cleaning/disinfecting of rooms and high touch surfaces in the clinic by staff
  • Increased frequency of hand washing by all during and between patient interactions
  • Social distancing measures. Each patient will immediately be moved to their own individual room, and will be kept separate until checkout.

And remember these top ways to help slow spread, prevent transmission and boost your immunity:

Social Distancing. This is among the most effective way to prevent spread. Don’t shake hands. Keep a 6-foot radius from others (unless they are healthy, uninfected people who live in your home). Work from home if you can.

Practice Good Hygiene. Wash your hands for 20 to 30 seconds with soap and water. Hand sanitizer is ok but not necessary. Do your best to wash hands frequently and avoid touching your face.

Stay Home.

Protect Those At Risk. The CDC recommends that people over 60 stay home and avoid unnecessary contact.

Boost Your Immune System:

Eat a Nutrient Dense, Whole Foods Diet: Eat a rainbow of colors – root veggies, greens, sweet potatoes, onions and garlic, etc. Chock full of antioxidants!

Cut out all added sugar. Yes, all. Sugar suppresses your immune system for up to 12 hours.

Get at least 7-8 hours of good sleep. This is when your body heals and regenerates itself.

Lower stress levels. Practice deep breathing, meditation, home yoga, warm baths.

Some safe and simple preventative immune support options to add on a daily basis include:

  • Vitamin C:  2000- 5000 mg daily
  • Zinc 30 to 50 mg daily
  • Vitamin A: 10,000 IU daily
  • Mushroom blend formulas that include reishi, maitake, cordyceps and  turkey tail
  • Herbs such as Holy Basil, Rhodiola, Astragalus, Andrographis, Elderberry and  Echinacea (these can be taken in tincture, tea, or capsule forms)
  • Fire cider- a warming concoction that includes  garlic, ginger, apple cider vinegar and cayenne- a shot a day keeps the flu away (see recipe below)
  • High-dose IV Vitamin C for super-strong immune support.

Please remember that during these trying times, we are here for you and are part of your resources for staying healthy! Please feel free to reach out to us anytime.

Yours in Health,
